Seeing Sounds is all about making music to heal, inspire, calm down, sleep and energize the mind and body. One of the ways we can see the effects of the music is by reading brainwaves using an EEG (Electroencephalogram) reader. Brainwaves are synchronized electrical pulses from groups of neurons communicating with one another.

When you hear about different brain waves and how they work it can be a little confusing as to what does what, so I've listed the descriptions of what each brain wave does below to give you a better understanding of what's happening if you are using an eeg reader while listening to my music.

If you would like to purchase your own eeg reader I recommend getting the MUSE 2 which you can find online. In addition to the descriptions of the different brain waves I've also included a simple meditation guide incase meditation is something new for you.

I'm looking forward to hearing where your musical journey takes you.

MEDITATION GUIDE

BREATHING
Instead of starting with the intention of "trying" to calm the mind, just start by sitting in a comfortable position. Appreciate the sensation of each breath and just focus on that. If your mind wanders, just keep coming back to the breath. It takes some practice, but you'll get there.

BODY
It's important to relax your shoulders and arms. If you are sitting in a chair keep your feet on the floor and your spine straight. If you are sitting cross-legged, try to keep your knees below your hips. You can always make a higher seat by sitting on a cushion.

EYES
You can focus your gaze down if you want to feel more anchored in the space your sitting in. If you want more of a body-based meditation I recommend closing them.

SOUND
There are three EP's you can use, each one has a different focus. There's "Calm", "Energize" and "Sleep" each one was made with the intention of activating the brain waves that help produce each of those results. So, if you are having a stressful day at work and need a bit of calm, I suggest picking a few (or all) of the songs and taking 20 minutes to meditate, listen and let the music and your breath take you away.

If you have an eeg reader you should see a difference in your brainwave pattern while listening to each of the songs

DELTA WAVES
(.5 to 3 HZ)
Delta Brainwaves are low in frequency and deeply penetrating. They are generated in deep meditation and help to produce the production of Cortisol, which is the hormone secreted when we experience stress. They also help with the production of HGH (Human Growth Hormone), which promotes regeneration and healing in the body.

THETA WAVES
(3 to 8 HZ)
Theta Brainwaves are said to be the gateway to learning, memory and intuition. They are present in deep relaxation, meditation and help to lower stress and anxiety. These waves are also known to increase long term memory and the ability to learn. They are also associated with the ability to feel emptions and empathy.

ALPHA WAVES
(8 to 12 HZ)

Alpha Brainwaves are emitted when we are in a physical and mental state of conscious relaxation. It's known as the resting state of the brain and can help with mental coordination and learning. These waves also aid in the release of serotonin which can help combat depression.

BETA WAVES
(12 to 38 HZ)

Beta Brainwaves dominate our waking state and are mainly present when we are in an alert state of mind. They are usually most prominent when we are making decisions, problem solving and are focused on projects. Prolonged states in the frequency can cause an inability to relax, anxiety and stress.

GAMMA WAVES
(38 to 42 HZ)

Gamma Brainwaves are a relatively recent discovery and are the fastest of all the brain waves and assist with mental processing. They help with attention, focus as well as the binding of senses. They pass information very quickly and quietly. Some researchers have noted that gamma waves are highly active in states of spiritual awareness and love.
